Hello! I am Martin Smith the somewhat peripatetic owner of this site and of most of the properties listed here.
I am a native of North Carolina in the Southern United States though I have lived in a lot of different places since leaving there as a boy including Virginia, Texas, SouthEast Asia, England, Ohio, Kansas and now finally Florida.
I spent eleven years after high school in the US Air Force and went from the lowest pay grade to a noncommissioned officer and finally a commissioned officer in the Medical Service Corps.
I am a graduate of Davis and Elkins College, Elkins, West Virginia with B.A. (Hons) in Management/Hospital Management and hold an M.B.A. from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio with specializations in marketing and finance. I am also a diplomate of the US Air Force School of Health Care Sciences in Health Administration.
Following my Air Force service I worked in the health care field as an executive and as a management consultant. Most recently I sold GMMI (Global Medical Management - http://gmmusa.com ) a company I founded to a large French company and have retired.
I have been married twice and divorced twice and have two children, Allison a Registered Nurse who lives in Boca Raton, Florida with her two boys and Brooks a computer scientist who lives in Gainesville, Florida and works for the University of Florida.
I started acquiring these properties some years ago and essentially I have purchased properties that interested me in places where I would like to spend time. I hasten to add that not all the properties listed here are mine and in fact some of them belong to friends and business acquaintances.
I assure you that every property listed here I know and know well. We are honest, straightforward people and we make no attempt to oversell our locations. We, after all, want you to enjoy yourself and then to tell your friends so that they may want to come and stay with us.
